$31 Billion Advertising Campaign

October 26, 2007

… Well at least according to Paul Thomasch of Reuters, New York who’s sources state that companies around the world will spend a record $31 billion this year to advertise everything from toothpaste to home loans on the Internet.

$31 Billion equates to 10% of the world’s $495 billion advertising industry’s. And according to ZenithOptimedia, they forecast it to rise by 21% next year and an additional 13% to $43 billion in 2009.

Daily, I find myself thinking of new ideas to capitalize on all the money just waiting to be spent online. Developing / Buying websites that have high traffic potential, developing an ad-serving network, creating a new MFA (Made For Adsense) every month; endless really. However, I’ve learned that you have to determine which actions will deliver more money for less effort. But, I’ve also learned that I dont have as much free time as I once did when I was younger and that I can nolonger do everything on my own.

I recently joined the Calgary Search Engine Optimization Meetup Group in hopes to network with the local Search Marketing and Optimization community here in Calgary. I believe that its important to know who’s in your industry where you are and where you go has a lot to do with who you know.
