Google Analytics Tracking Code URL Generator

February 20, 2009

Here is the Google Analytics Tracking Code Generator that you can use for any campaign. Since Google AdWords now automatically includes tracking in its campaigns, you don’t need to create a specific URL for any ads any longer. This tool creates to code for your Google Adwords Campaign Destination URL, but you can also use it for any display ads or contextual ads you may manage as well.

I’ve used this tool to create URLs for my email campaigns, Yahoo! Search Marketing, MSN Adcenter (Bing) campaigns, tracking flash applications and tracking specific actions on my sites.

This tool is really simple; here are the options it gives you:

1. Campaign Source: (referrer) google, yahoo, newsletter_0602
2. Campaign Medium: (marketing medium) cpc, banner, email
3. Campaign Name: product, promo code, or slogan
4. Campaign Term: keywords
5. Campaign Content: use two differentiate ads

* Required Fields. You must enter a Website URL, Campaign Source, Campaign Medium, and Campaign Name.

Here’s an example Destination URL it gives you:

http://www.mysite.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=travel-winter-2009
