Mac’s MVC Framework CMS Ajax PHP CMS

July 5, 2007

One of my colleagues, Macdonald Robinson, recently released his latest version of his AJAX PHP CMS with MVC Framework v0.2.1.

Mac’s open source cms is an easy to use MVC template system that integrates ajax and php.

When I first tested out the system, I actually installed it on one of my domains I was planning on using for paid advertising spots (MFA haha), but after 30 minutes of tinkering with the system, I was really impressed by its overall functionality and easy to use cms interface.

Pros:

Some of the cool features about Mac’s MVC Framework CMS (Ajax PHP CMS) is the right-click-able page tree menu which allows admins to rename, delete or create a file or folder. You can edit the footer or standard template file easily and It’s pretty straight forward and anyone can have a site up and running in no time.

Cons:

The MVC Framework took me some time to wrap my brain around how it writes out the URL for navigation, but apart from that I’d like to see is the ability to have a custom header file that can be customized, this would allow for greater SEO capabilities and further customization.

    Hey King,

Just an update on this post, I have recently release a new version of my framework which includes allot of new features and enhancements.

The CMS now allows you to not only change the site content, but also page level properties like Page Title, Meta Description, Meta Keywords, Add/Delete child pages, re-order child pages etc. you can even change the Site Level properties like the Site Name, Site Theme and Site language and all of this is done using and Edit In Place AJAX interface so there is no separate admin section per say.

The WYSIWYG Editor also gives you the ability to embed custom google maps, Image maps, youtube videos, custom FLV videos etc.

And allot of new enhancements were made to the core of the MVC framework as well like addition of an XSS cross site scripting filter, page level caching, ability to change the site character set, ability to easily add new languages, Geo-targeting support etc.

    Thanks,
    Mac
