Blog Leverage – The Next Web Conference 2009 Offers Special Treatment to Bloggers

Giving bloggers incentive to blog about an event; something I haven’t seen before. The Next Web Conference 2009 is offering bloggers special treatment if they blog about their event; there’s a discount, seating with wired internet access and more!

Here’s a quote from the Next Web Conference 2009’s website:

We <3 bloggers
At The Next Web we love bloggers, blogging is in our blood. Bloggers are super important for the web scene. Therefore we have a special deal for industry bloggersWe have 50 special bloggers passes with steep discount, access to the Cocktail party, and a wired connection to the internet during the sessions.

What’s the incentive?

  • 500 euro discount on a conference pass
  • a Media partner discount code for your friends
  • Access to Thursday drinks for Sponsors, Startups, Journalists and Bloggers
  • Seating with wired Internet access
  • Special treatment by Boris
  • (who’s boris?)

Although this may sound like a great offer, there are some conditions:

  • The blog must post original, dated, industry-related news at least once per day.
  • Content of the blog must extend beyond newsletters, links, forums, personal diaries, opinion, company blogging or personal analysis.
  • The blog must have at least 1k unique visitors per day
  • A year ago, I was working on a social media campaign looking to leverage several mediums including blogs. There was one blog network that quoted $10,000 to create a new blog and would guarantee to post 2-3 times per week for 4 months… new site means no domain age, but it would be networked with other blogs so it wasn’t that bad of an idea. Looking back, giving bloggers an incentive to spread the word about specific events and products would have been a better idea.

Well, If you have a passion for the Web Industry and would love to spend some time in the good ol’ clog-wearing city of Amsterdam, you should register for the Next Web Conference 2009; not only will you be able to walk along the streets of my uncle’s homeland, but you’ll be able to rub shoulders with some awesome people in the industry.
