What are the Major Stock Exchanges in China?
There are two major stock exchanges in China: the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Both exchanges are regulated by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC).
- The Shanghai Stock Exchange is the larger of the two exchanges and is located in Shanghai and The Shanghai Stock Exchange tends to have larger and more established companies listed on it.
- The Shenzhen Stock Exchange is located in Shenzhen. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange tends to have a higher proportion of technology and innovative companies.

Do I need to Read & Write in Traditional Chinese to Trade Stocks on the China Stock Exchanges?
Now Its not necessary to be able to read to trade stocks online in China. Many brokers offer online platforms that are user-friendly and allow you to place orders and track your portfolio using visual elements and drop-down menus. However, it is important to be aware that some information about the stocks you are trading, such as financial statements and news articles, may be in Chinese and you may need to use translation tools or seek assistance in understanding this information. Depending how invested you are, you could even start learning Mandarin like I did many years ago.
