Microsoft MSN AdCenter Desktop for Mac

Where can I find AdCenter Desktop for Macs? If you’re asking this question, then know that myself and many other happy Mac users (like SEMGeek) are still wondering the same thing. Keep in mind that this question also includes an obvious rhetorical question as to why would Microsoft support a Mac platform. As a recent new owner of a used 24″ iMac, the performance differences are indisputably clear and now it is unlikely I will ever buy a Windows-based PC again.

After I learned about the tool, while on my iMac, I googled it and found it on the Microsoft Advertising website for download, but as soon as the download dialog box popped up, I immediately realized it was an EXE file and not a DMG file for my mac. Microsoft AdCenter Desktop Beta has been available since last year, but since I didn’t manage many MSN AdCenter accounts then, there wasn’t a real need to install it.

Well, I still needed to use it for work so I installed it on one of the HP laptops running Windows XP Professional and installed the remote desktop connection tool for my imac and just use it that way. Why I didn’t or don’t want to dual boot my iMac to run windows? well, I’d rather not have to do all the setup work and because it was easier to remotely connect to windows computer, it made sense to me. Plus, I always have my 4-year old IBM T43 laptop at home.

One of the things I did notice about AdCenter Desktop is that the layouts are quite similar but the expandable sections on the left and right for keyword research and campaign lists function like that of Yahoo! Search Marketing Desktop:

Well, I’m still left wondering when Microsoft will start supporting mac versions of the AdCenter Desktop software product. But I guess right now if they still are not in the process of developing a mac version, they just not be too concerned with the percentage of users who manage pay per click (PPC) accounts or paid advertising campaigns that may use an Apple computer.

I wonder if this goes all the way back to the days of how Pirates of Silicon Valley depicted it to be? Have you ever watched Pirates of Silicon Valley?
